Shalom! We are drawing today's lesson from King Jehosaphat of Judah:
2 Chronicles 17: 3-4
3 And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;
4 But sought to the LORD God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.
I've said this before, a lot of Israel's kings were not godly, but were deep in idolatry. As long as their spiritual condition is like this things didn't go well with the people and their nation. But the case of Jehosaphat and few of Israel's past kings was different. They were godly kings and this caused good things to happen to their people.
What did King Jehosaphat do?
2 Chronicles 17: 5-6
5 Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honour in abundance.
6 And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.
Jehosaphat was a godly king and God blessed him through his people. He went further to drive idolatry out of Judah.
Then he appointed some priests to teach the Word of the Law to his people which resulted into what the Bible says:
2 Chronicles 17: 10
10 And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.
Whenever your enemies finds out that God is for you and with you, they will celebrate you. They gave Jehosaphat gifts. Verse 11-19 tell the rest of the story about his kingdom.
Till next posting, peace be with you. Compliments of the season to you.
