Ministry of John, the Baptist

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola

Shalom! Happy New Year to you. May this year be so filled with all goodness that will cause your life to appreciate and develop in Jesus' name. Amen.

So many people believed that John the Baptist did not have a supernatural ministry. So they used him as an example of a minister whose ministry did not have accompany signs and wonders like that of Jesus. How wrong they are.

First, the conception of John was supernatural. Prayer brought him. The Bible records, "But the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias: for thy prayer is heard; and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John" (Luke 1:13).

Secondly, just as the angel said, he was filled with the Holy Spirit from his mother's womb (Jesus wasn't): The Angel said, "... he shall be filled with the Holy Ghost, even from his mother's womb" (Luke 1:15).

Third, when his ministry began, it affected so many peoples' lives that multitudes trooped out to meet him at the Jordan river, repenting from their sins. This didn't happen with the Pharisees. No, it didn't. The Bible says, "Then went out to him Jerusalem, and all Judaea, and all the region round about Jordan, And were baptized of him in Jordan, confessing their sins. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? Bring forth therefore fruits meet for repentance:" (Matthew 3:5-8).

Fourth, the gifts of the Spirit operated in his ministry. That was how he was able to recognize who Jesus was. The same thing could have occurred in his dealings with people in his ministrations. John said, "And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost. And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God" (John 1:33-34).

Finally, it was under his ministry that the Holy Spirit came upon Jesus and led Him into the wilderness for His final preparation for His own ministry. The Bible records, "And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him" (Matthew 3:16).

When people genuinely repent from sin, peace normally settle in their hearts. Thousands of people experienced this under the ministry of John the baptist as they were baptized in water. Supernatural things followed his ministry that's why it was very attractive to people. His was a unique ministry and it served God's purpose. He was used to introduce the Messiah, Jesus, to Israel and the entire world. The Bible says, "The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world" (John 1:29).

Till next posting, God bless.

A Soldier Gone To Headquaters

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! A senior friend just went home to be with the Lord, PASTOR PATRICK EZEKUDE OBAZE. He was aged 78 years old. I got to know him in 1985 after I became a part of the Faith Clinic which was founded by Rev. (Dr.) I.K.U. Ibeneme of blessed memory. Uncle 'Bobo' Obaze, as was fondly called by Dr. Ibeneme, was one of the numerous workers that the Faith Clinic had in those days in the mid-80s. All the workers came from different churches and ministries, and were of various ages and giftings. In spite of his age, He was simple and humble. He was easy to get along with, and very kind. He loved Jesus and was as excited about Him as anyone of us was who were much younger than he was. Like other workers of the ministry he was involved in deliverance ministrations. He often traveled with Dr. Ibeneme for outside ministrations. He also had a special love to minister the Holy Ghost baptism. He had great success in this area of ministry. I know it because I was a...

The Holy Spirit Moves 4

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! The works of the Holy Spirit varies, no one knows it all. But it's so exciting when one finds out about them. I was part of the Faith Clinic team that travelled with Dr. I. K. U. Ibeneme to minister at a campmeeting, December 1985. It was a deliverance session with the church on the outskirt of Lagos State. Our method of ministry was to ask individuals what problem they have, and we minister accordingly. After I had prayed with several people, it came to the turn of a brother. I went thru the normal process of our ministration and he stuttered and said, 'I am a stammerer'. I was flabbergasted because at that moment I didn't know what to do. But I just said, 'In Jesus' name, I plead the blood. Be healed!' and I took off to another place. During the testimony time, the brother said in very clear words, 'You know me. . . ' and the place became wild with excitement and shouts of 'Hallelujah!' rended the air!...

Faith and the Will of God

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! Where exactly in the prayer of faith can we find the will of God? The will of God means what GOD expects, requires and demands, to be done by you. Paul said in his epistle to the Hebrew Christians, "... ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise" (Hebrews 10:36). It is after you've done the will of God that YOU will experience the fulfillment of the promise. The will of God for you when using Mark 11: 24 is that part where Jesus said, "... when ye pray, believe that you recieve them ..." . Once you miss this part, you would have wasted your time and prayer. The will of God in this verse deals with, 1. The time of your prayer WHEN YOU PRAY, and, 2. What you believe when YOU PRAY. The other important thing about your prayer life that goes with the matter of the will of God has to do with your life. You must be a person of godly character. You must fear God and treat other peo...
