The Importance Of Prayer [Part 4]

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola

Where do you go when you have needs or things you want to have? Most people would go to people they believe could be of help to them. As much as you can when people approach you for help, go ahead and help them. If you have committed yourself to be used of God to support a ministry or a servant of God, please continue to do so and God will bless you for doing that. If you have made up your mind to support the education and upbringing of some people, don't stop. Continue to do it and God will bless you.

Let's look at this story from the lips of Jesus:

Luke 18: 1-8
1¶ And he spake a parable unto them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint;
2 Saying, There was in a city a judge, which feared not God, neither regarded man:
3 And there was a widow in that city; and she came unto him, saying, Avenge me of mine adversary.
4 And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man;
5 Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me.
6 And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith.
7 And shall not God avenge his own elect, which cry day and night unto him, though he bear long with them?
8 I tell you that he will avenge them speedily. Nevertheless when the Son of man cometh, shall he find faith on the earth?

This widow needed help and she went to an unjust judge for it. Because the man was unjust, and did not fear God, she was treated badly. But because this woman would not give up her right, but was very persistent with her demand, she eventually had her need met. That was why Jesus said we should always pray and not give up. Jesus said further that when it comes to God, He will speedily attend to His own people because He is just [take note of this point].

(1.) God wants to meet your needs - no matter how small or how great. You need to know that, especially if you belong to Him through faith in Jesus Christ. The Bible says that His ears are open to the prayers of the righteous (1 Peter 3: 12).

1 Peter 3: 12
12 For the eyes of the Lord are over the righteous, and his ears are open unto their prayers: but the face of the Lord is against them that do evil.

(2.) You get things from God on the basis of faith only. The faith He requires of us is the type His Word describe, not the kind you coin up yourself. Look at Mark 11: 22-24, 25; Matthew 7: 7-11; 21: 21-22. Study these passages long enough untill you understand them.

Mark 11: 22-24
22 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God.
23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.
24 Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

Matthew 7: 7-11
7 ¶ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:
8 For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
9 Or what man is there of you, whom if his son ask bread, will he give him a stone?
10 Or if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent?
11 If ye then, being evil, know how to give good gifts unto your children, how much more shall your Father which is in heaven give good things to them that ask him?

Matthew 21: 21-22
21 Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done.
22 And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

(3.) You must pray in Jesus name alone: John 16: 23-24.

John 16: 23-24
23 ¶ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing. Verily, verily, I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall ask the Father in my name, he will give it you.
24 Hitherto have ye asked nothing in my name: ask, and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full.

(4.) You must do away with anxiety, worry and stress over the matter since you have prayed about it. The only thing that remains is your praise and thanksgiving to God whom you believed has answered your prayer (Phillipians 4: 6-8).

Phillipians 4: 6-8
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.
8 Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

Faith means you trust God to keep His end of the bargain i.e. to keep His Word of promise to you. What He promised He will always do. He is faithful to the core. He never disappoints. He is not going to start with you.

There are a few examples of the things you can get from God by faith:

1. Forgiveness of sins. 2. Healing for your body. 3. He can provide you with sound protection better than any human being can give you. 4. He can supply your daily needs - no matter what they are (Matthew 21: 21-22; Mark 11: 24). 5. You can recieve the Holy Spirit baptism and the spiritual gifts you desire. 6. You can recieve divine guidance in every situation of your life. 7. God can provide things you may or may not have money for. it is actually limitless, the things that God can do for you (Ephesians 3: 20-21).

Ephesian 3: 20-21
20 Now unto him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,
21 Unto him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.

God bless.

A Soldier Gone To Headquaters

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! A senior friend just went home to be with the Lord, PASTOR PATRICK EZEKUDE OBAZE. He was aged 78 years old. I got to know him in 1985 after I became a part of the Faith Clinic which was founded by Rev. (Dr.) I.K.U. Ibeneme of blessed memory. Uncle 'Bobo' Obaze, as was fondly called by Dr. Ibeneme, was one of the numerous workers that the Faith Clinic had in those days in the mid-80s. All the workers came from different churches and ministries, and were of various ages and giftings. In spite of his age, He was simple and humble. He was easy to get along with, and very kind. He loved Jesus and was as excited about Him as anyone of us was who were much younger than he was. Like other workers of the ministry he was involved in deliverance ministrations. He often traveled with Dr. Ibeneme for outside ministrations. He also had a special love to minister the Holy Ghost baptism. He had great success in this area of ministry. I know it because I was a...

The Holy Spirit Moves 4

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! The works of the Holy Spirit varies, no one knows it all. But it's so exciting when one finds out about them. I was part of the Faith Clinic team that travelled with Dr. I. K. U. Ibeneme to minister at a campmeeting, December 1985. It was a deliverance session with the church on the outskirt of Lagos State. Our method of ministry was to ask individuals what problem they have, and we minister accordingly. After I had prayed with several people, it came to the turn of a brother. I went thru the normal process of our ministration and he stuttered and said, 'I am a stammerer'. I was flabbergasted because at that moment I didn't know what to do. But I just said, 'In Jesus' name, I plead the blood. Be healed!' and I took off to another place. During the testimony time, the brother said in very clear words, 'You know me. . . ' and the place became wild with excitement and shouts of 'Hallelujah!' rended the air!...

Faith and the Will of God

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! Where exactly in the prayer of faith can we find the will of God? The will of God means what GOD expects, requires and demands, to be done by you. Paul said in his epistle to the Hebrew Christians, "... ye have need of patience, that, after ye have done the will of God, ye might receive the promise" (Hebrews 10:36). It is after you've done the will of God that YOU will experience the fulfillment of the promise. The will of God for you when using Mark 11: 24 is that part where Jesus said, "... when ye pray, believe that you recieve them ..." . Once you miss this part, you would have wasted your time and prayer. The will of God in this verse deals with, 1. The time of your prayer WHEN YOU PRAY, and, 2. What you believe when YOU PRAY. The other important thing about your prayer life that goes with the matter of the will of God has to do with your life. You must be a person of godly character. You must fear God and treat other peo...
