The Believers' Authority 9

Shalom! The nature of our authority over devils is such that we believers in Christ Jesus can bind the evil spirits, and stop or even destroy their evil works through the use of the name of Jesus.

Satan and his evil spirits or demons are our real enemies, not human beings. Since he's the one responsible for the evil works that men do, we can break his influence over them through prayer, intercession and the use of our authority in the name of Jesus (Ephesians 6: 10-18).

Acts 16-18
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Notice that evil spirits or demons cannot be destroyed, but their plans and works can be destroyed. You can't send them to hell. You can only cast them out - that is, you throw them out of where they shouldn't be in Jesus name, "In my name shall they cast out devils ..." (Mark 16: 17). No matter what else you add to your words when casting out devils, they will not really go untill you use the name of Jesus to cast them out! (You may call fire, the blood of Jesus, thunder or whatever, they won't go untill you use the name of Jesus).

The truth about our God-given authority is so simple that you don't have to be an educated person to have and to use it. If the devil himself shows up before you, cast him out in the name of Jesus. You don't need to be afraid of him. He's afraid of you and the Person you represent! You are greater than he is only because Jesus the greater One lives in you (1 John 4: 4).

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! One major lesson that I began to learn as a born-again Christian is the subject of faith, and I am still learning it after 24years. I found out that if a Christian is ignorant of this subject, he will lead a lopsided life. Things will be very difficult for him in this life. The Bible says, "The just shall live by his faith" (Habakuk 2: 4). God works with those who have learnt and are living and walking by faith. The Bible says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11: 6). God can use any believer in Christ to do these things and more.
