The Believers' Authority 9

Shalom! The nature of our authority over devils is such that we believers in Christ Jesus can bind the evil spirits, and stop or even destroy their evil works through the use of the name of Jesus.

Satan and his evil spirits or demons are our real enemies, not human beings. Since he's the one responsible for the evil works that men do, we can break his influence over them through prayer, intercession and the use of our authority in the name of Jesus (Ephesians 6: 10-18).

Acts 16-18
16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:
17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.
18 And this did she many days. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

Notice that evil spirits or demons cannot be destroyed, but their plans and works can be destroyed. You can't send them to hell. You can only cast them out - that is, you throw them out of where they shouldn't be in Jesus name, "In my name shall they cast out devils ..." (Mark 16: 17). No matter what else you add to your words when casting out devils, they will not really go untill you use the name of Jesus to cast them out! (You may call fire, the blood of Jesus, thunder or whatever, they won't go untill you use the name of Jesus).

The truth about our God-given authority is so simple that you don't have to be an educated person to have and to use it. If the devil himself shows up before you, cast him out in the name of Jesus. You don't need to be afraid of him. He's afraid of you and the Person you represent! You are greater than he is only because Jesus the greater One lives in you (1 John 4: 4).

Time Element in Faith

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! There is an element of time involved in the principle of faith. Misunderstanding this important element will cause a failure of faith. The Bible says, "Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11:1). When should one take the step of faith? (Now!) Paul said, "Now faith is . . . the evidence of things not seen". When you are standing by faith, what you're believing God for is neither seen nor felt. You're just standing in faith for it - calling those things which be not as though they were. If you've asked God for a car, by faith you say, 'I believe that I have my car now.' This is neither pretence nor a lie. You really must believe this way. You don't have to see it first or feel it before you believe it. Hope, And Then Have Faith in God!

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! There is a clear difference between hope and faith. Hope cannot achieve anything without faith, and faith has nothing to recieve without hope. Hope expects and faith recieves. One of hope's definition is 'eager yearning'. Hope dreams and will keep you smiling, but achieve nothing more than that. Hope is a picture of the things you want to have. Faith, on the other hand, does not expect anything. It is a reciever. Faith takes the unrealities of hope and brings them into the realm of reality. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11: 1). It's just as if hope has been there waiting and achieving nothing untill faith arrived and grabbed hope and bring into reality what hope dreamt about. Now listen up, faith doesn't just come. Faith is produced through the knowledge of the Word of God that you've repeatedly heard (Romans 10: 17). Many times you don't have to hear God...
