Shalom! Have you ever wondered why God wanted us to pray in tongues or even pray at all.
The Bible tells us some of them in the following verses:
1 Corinthians 14: 2
2 For he that speaketh in an unknown tongue speaketh not unto men, but unto God: for no man understandeth him; howbeit in the spirit he speaketh mysteries.
Romans 8: 26-27
26 Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered.
27 And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God.
The first reason why God wants us to pray and speak with tongues is for us to communicate with Him supernaturally. But why an unknown language? Because there are things God wants to keep as secrets (for our own benefit) which He sometimes reveal to us, but most times is best we don't know them. (But don't ask me what things?). The Bible calls those things mysteries or divine secrets.
The second reason why God wants us to pray is to take care of our needs when we pray with our understanding or supernaturally in tongues. If you don't pray about your needs, they will not be taken care of by God even though He has made provisions for them all.
The third reason why God wants us to pray - especially in tongues is so that we can pray exactly the perfect will of God without failing.
The other important reasons will be made known in my next postings. Till then, God bless.
