Dynamic Scriptures 8

Shalom! When you have real thirst, hunger and desire for anything, that's when there'll be a pursuit for that thing. The reason is that true thirst, hunger and desire will never take 'No' for an answer. Give a man who is thirsty for water something else and he will still be looking for water.

David said, "O God, thou art my God; early will I seek thee: my soul thirsteth for thee, my flesh longeth for thee in a dry and thirsty land, where no water is; To see thy power and thy glory, so as I have seen thee in the sanctuary" (Psalm 63:1-2). He was thirsty for God's power and glory.

Haven't you wondered why not many of Israel's kings had fire coming down from heaven upon their sacrifices to God? It wasn't something peculiar to Prophet Elijah. David and Solomon had heaven honoring their sacrifices.

Relationship with God and obedience to His Word were the keys. They had the heart that sought after God and to know Him. They were well distinguished from other kings because they loved God and were quite close to Him.

How about you, what's your relationship with God like? Your relationship with God could be the difference between great things happening in your life and leading an ordinary kind of life.

Most other Israeli kings were only ceremonial kings - mere figureheads which had no sparkle between them and God.

David said, "One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD and to inquire in his temple ... " (Psalm 27: 4).

Your Exposure Matters

Whether you realise it or not, you are influenced and your life is directed in the direction of the kind of mindset that you have, which is largely influenced by the kind of knowledge that you have. What you know and what you're ignorant of affect your life. The kind of Pastor you listen to, and the kind of church you attend affects you. The kind of books, tapes, videos and the kind of friends you keep affects your life. Make no mistake about it, you are what you eat. Jesus puts it this way, "A good man out of the good treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is good; and an evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart bringeth forth that which is evil: for of the abundance of the heart his mouth speaketh" (Luke 6:45). Hope, And Then Have Faith in God!

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! There is a clear difference between hope and faith. Hope cannot achieve anything without faith, and faith has nothing to recieve without hope. Hope expects and faith recieves. One of hope's definition is 'eager yearning'. Hope dreams and will keep you smiling, but achieve nothing more than that. Hope is a picture of the things you want to have. Faith, on the other hand, does not expect anything. It is a reciever. Faith takes the unrealities of hope and brings them into the realm of reality. "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen" (Hebrews 11: 1). It's just as if hope has been there waiting and achieving nothing untill faith arrived and grabbed hope and bring into reality what hope dreamt about. Now listen up, faith doesn't just come.
