Shalom! While his mentor was alive, King Jo'ash carried out some remarkable projects, especially the project of the tabernacle of witness. The Bible says:
2 Chronicles 24: 4
4 ... Jo'ash was minded to repair the house of the LORD.
Through his leaders, the priests and some other men, they collected money from the people and got the temple that the evil empress, Athaliah destroyed, rebuilt and put back into proper shape.
Those who couldn't get to him when the priest, his mentor, Jehoiada was alive, were able to get to him after his death, and they led him astray. The Bible then say about him:
2 Chronicles 24: 22
22 Thus Jo'ash the king remembered not the kindness which Jehoiada his father had done to him, but slew his son. And when he died, he said, The LORD look upon it, and require it.
As great and as precious as the priest's influence was on King Jo'ash, Jo'ash never learnt to serve God on his own, and it cost him dearly.
Learn to develop your own spirituality so you can hold your own when others are not with you so that the enemy will not make mincemeat of you. This is God's Word to you, "As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him: Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving" (Colossians 2: 6-7).
It is very expensive to depend on other people's spirituality. Develop your own and it will be well with you no matter who is not around to help you out. You must come to your own.
Till next posting, God bless.
