"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12: 1-2).
Shalom! A Christian's life is supposed to be governed, influenced and ruled by the will of God.
Notice that there are three aspects to the will of God and you can't prove any one of it without a renewed mind.
When your mind is renewed, the knowledge of the will of God will become established in you, and you can then live by it.
1. There is the good will of God.
2. There is the acceptable will of God.
3. There is the perfect will of God.
Let me illustrate this with just one example:
1. We can go to church anywhere. This falls within the good will of God.
2. We can decide which church we want to worship with. This is within His acceptable will.
3. God gets to decide where He wants us to go and what He wants us to do there, and when it comes to the nitty-gritty, where His perfect will is concerned, He decides which church He wants you to be and what you do there. This is the level of God's perfect will. It cannot be changed. Many times we have to grow spiritually to get to this level. Another thing is that God's perfect will is best for us.
Have you ever heard of people desiring to be at the very centre of the will of God for their lives? The basic thing to do to get there is to become grounded in the Word. Beside this you will have to pray in order to be expressly led by the Spirit of God about God's Will for you as a person.
Till next posting, God bless.
