In the Old Testament days, every commandment, every law and statutes are clear expressions of God's will - the things He wanted them to do, and the way He wanted them to live with one another, and how He wanted them to approach Him and serve in His presence so that they would not court His divine judgement but His blessings.
Every one of the expression of the will of God reveals the kind of person He is. You get to understand this from how He revealed Himself to Moses:
Exodus 33: 18-20
18 And he said, I beseech thee, shew me thy glory.
19 And he said, I will make all my goodness pass before thee, and I will proclaim the name of the LORD before thee; and will be gracious to whom I will be gracious, and will shew mercy on whom I will shew mercy.
Exodus 34:5-7
5 And the LORD descended in the cloud, and stood with him there, and proclaimed the name of the LORD.
6 And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,
7 Keeping mercy for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, and that will by no means clear the guilty; visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children, and upon the children's children, unto the third and to the fourth generation.
God declared in this passages both His nature and His will. You should know that when you are dealing with God, no one escapes with sin. The proof of this is that Jesus was punished for all of our sins. No matter how small or how great your sins are, Jesus paid for them all by His crucifiction on the cross at Calvary. No one escapes. Peoples' sins are forgiven by God only when they repent and confess them before Him. They must do this as they accept Jesus Christ as their Saviour and Lord. YOU MUST BE BORN-AGAIN (John 3: 3-7).
This is why today the only sin people will go to hell for is the sin of rejecting Jesus, the Son of God who died and rose again for their sake. Going back into sin after getting saved is like crucifying Jesus afresh. It is very dangerous.
Till next posting, God bless.
