Marks of a Committed Christian #3

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola

Shalom! The Bible says, "And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God" (Romans 12:2).

The story of the life of many Christians is similar to that of the man who said to Jesus, "The young man saith unto him, All these things have I kept from my youth up: what lack I yet?" (Matthew 19:20). They have not been lacking in their commitment to Jesus, but they have a lot of needs that are not met. For them life has been a struggle.

What we need to look at is the motive behind our commitment to Jesus. What is motivating your commitment?

Is it that you want to please God in order for Him to bless you and meet your needs, or you simply love and appreciate Jesus for the things He's done for you through His sacrifice on the cross? The 2nd reason should be your motive: You serve Jesus because you love and appreciate Him for all He has done on your behalf.

Now with this motive, you need to learn how to recieve the things that you need to get from God. These things you will have to learn from the Word of God. If you don't do it, it would be as if your labour has been in vain. But no, the rewards of your labours will be given to you in due time.

In Revelations 22, Jesus said, "And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last" (Revelation 22:12-13).

So, you must familiarise yourself with the promises of God and their conditions. Once you fulfill the conditions, those promises will be fulfilled in your life.

As a Committed Christian, don't only study the dos and don'ts of the Word, get to know the promised blessings from God and how to appropriate them in your life. The blessings are meant for you to enjoy. The renewal of your mind should include this area of your life - what God has to say about your needs.

Till next posting, God bless.

A Soldier Gone To Headquaters

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! A senior friend just went home to be with the Lord, PASTOR PATRICK EZEKUDE OBAZE. He was aged 78 years old. I got to know him in 1985 after I became a part of the Faith Clinic which was founded by Rev. (Dr.) I.K.U. Ibeneme of blessed memory. Uncle 'Bobo' Obaze, as was fondly called by Dr. Ibeneme, was one of the numerous workers that the Faith Clinic had in those days in the mid-80s. All the workers came from different churches and ministries, and were of various ages and giftings. In spite of his age, He was simple and humble. He was easy to get along with, and very kind. He loved Jesus and was as excited about Him as anyone of us was who were much younger than he was. Like other workers of the ministry he was involved in deliverance ministrations. He often traveled with Dr. Ibeneme for outside ministrations. He also had a special love to minister the Holy Ghost baptism. He had great success in this area of ministry. I know it because I was a...

Re-visiting Faith #5

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! One can spend a whole lifetime studying the subject of faith and one will continue to learn so many sides that are involved therein. Let's look at our main text again: Hebrews 11: 6 6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him. Diligence is an attribute and attitude of faith. There is a kind of seriousness that is attached to the Bible kind of faith which is why God demands diligence in the seeker. The dictionary defines the word "diligence" as "careful and conscientious" and the word "careful" as "paying close attention". The word "conscientious" is defined "been diligent with one's work" . I don't think this can be overly emphasised since it is the very basis and fabric of our relationship with the Most High God. You can just imagine why this faith business ...

All Consuming Desire #5

By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour really gave us the definition of faith in Mark 11:23-24. He showed us exactly what we need to do. So everytime we take the faith stand, what we believe matters. We can't say after we've prayed the prayer of faith, "I am expecting such and such from God." To do that is to get out of faith which will abort our prayer. You must believe that you have recieved what you asked for in prayer WHEN YOU PRAY, and then it will manifest. But if you want to wait untill you see it manifest, you will never get to see it. This is where B.U.S.H. comes in. Believe you have recieved Untill Something Happens (untill it manifest). Once you believe you have recieved, stay put in that mode - regardless of how you feel or what you've not seen or felt. Just believe it's done for you already. That's what will cause the manifestation! Jesus said, "Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, ...
