The All-Consuming Desire #3

Becoming friends with God must be a goal-oriented desire, something which we must work at to achieve. If not it will be just a pipe-dream, and it doesn't have to be that way.

To become His friend, it must be desired by each individual child of God. And it is possible for all to become His friends. The word 'desire' means 'a strong wish to do something or have something', not a wishy-washing kind of thing. A real heart desire will not be satisfied with a 'No' for an answer to its pursuit.

The truth is that God made it quite clear about the kind of attitude that is required from would be friends. He said, "And ye shall seek me, and find me, when ye shall search for me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). Your whole heart must be involved in establishing this kind of relationship with God.

Jesus had 12 disciples, 3 of them were closer to Him, but one of the 3 was closest, John who always sleep at His bosom. Each one of us determines how close we are to God. It is up to you and I to make up our minds about this. Thank God it is achievable!

Sometimes this desire is sparked off by an article or teaching like this or an exposure to people who have such a close relationship with God.

The first man, Adam, had it. Noah had it. Enoch had it. Abraham had it. David had it. Samuel and Elijah had it. You too can have it like many people do, even in this day and age. It must be an all-consuming desire. This desire must take possession of your being, and it will become your reality!

God can use any believer in Christ to do these things and more. In fact Jesus puts it this way: John 14: 12-14 12 ¶ Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father. 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. By Revd 'Remi Tejumola Shalom! One major lesson that I began to learn as a born-again Christian is the subject of faith, and I am still learning it after 24years. I found out that if a Christian is ignorant of this subject, he will lead a lopsided life. Things will be very difficult for him in this life. The Bible says, "The just shall live by his faith" (Habakuk 2: 4). God works with those who have learnt and are living and walking by faith. The Bible says, "But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him" (Hebrews 11: 6).
